Barry and I met at Sheffield University whilst we were both dating best friend student nurses. Needless to say our relationship lasted a lot longer than the girls.He is responsible for my love of Northern Soul and I have great memories of him spinning discs in the upper refectory on a saturday night and getting the crowd dancing. We also DJ'd together around Yorkshire with our girlfriends as Go Go dancers. Barrys record collection was brilliant and whatever requests we got you could be sure Barry would find it. To this day I have Barry's 60th Birthday Cd of Northern Soul favourites on my phone ....the Cd with Barry in a Tux on the cover cigar and champagne in hand.Whenever I play that music it takes me right back to Barry and those days.

When my first marriage broke up Barry suggested a boys trip to Ibiza to raise my spirits...and it certainly did. Nights spent in the clubs and at parties ,days spent sleeping it off on the beach. We loved the toga parties best. An amazing time which really helped me start life anew.I remember wearing a white jump suit which with my mahogany tan i thought looked terrific ( if I remember Barry thought otherwise) ...well it was the 70's.

Barry in Thailand, on a golf course , at a gourmet restaurant , spinning discs and spinning lines always smart and witty ....so many memories. never met anyone like him before or since , a "one off" and I am pleased and proud to have known him.
