Dedicated to the memory of Barry

Barry was 71, Accountant, Golfer, Raconteur and fine wines expert.  He was a much loved and adored husband who loved playing golf, recounting stories and telling jokes.

Barry was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in August last year, after an operation in October 2020, it soon became apparent that Chemo was not an option for him. He had a further Operation in January which was palliative.  Barry decided that he did not want to go back into hospital but to be cared for and die at home. The Bucks team of Rennie Grove nurses made this last wish possible for him with their 24/7 dedicated care and support.  We can’t thank them enough.

Fundraising event - We are intending to organise a Charity Golf Day for Barry at Lambourne Golf Club - for more information and any updates, please click this link https://barry-maiden.muchloved.com/Fundraising

Thoughts

The days will always be brighter because he existed. The nights will always be darker because he's gone.

I would like to just add a few notes onto the bottom of my sisters memories and stories of Barry. From a young age I had always either wanted to follow my mum into Law or Barry into the story-full world of business, but after Barry told my family and I that he could never read the sheets his analysts made for him and instead use to make them read them out to him, I was sold. Barry has always been a true role model for me in not just career but also in how he enjoyed life so much, everyday was a holiday to Barry and every problem could be overcome through a good chat and a great bottle of wine. He will truly be missed by all my family and I hope I can make him proud whether it be through working in finance or through getting people to read figures of sheets for me. Lots of love James and the Nolan Family

To us you will always be Uncle Barry. We would wait all year to visit you and Jane in the summertime. Turning up at your gate like we'd travelled across the seven seas to get there and unpacking a thousand suitcases even though we were only staying three days. You were the centre of every room and we couldn't wait to hear your stories and jokes. From meeting Paul McCartney to someone at the golf club throwing his car keys into one of the ponds, you could have told us a story about paint drying and we would have loved it all the same. We have never and don't think we will ever, meet anyone that can hold a room in the palm of their hand. A cigar in one hand, glass of rose in the other and their eyes closed. We'd be gripped on every word but then also trying to work out whether you'd fallen asleep or not. I'm so glad we got to meet most of your closest friends last year in the summertime because we know that your friends were family to you and to see that group out in force, eating amazing food and salsa dancing on the lawn was spectacular. We will miss you always Emma and James Emma and James
